Sale Items / Re: MSH Protos 500 and Multiplex Gemini
« Last post by xrayrevo@gmail.com on April 21, 2015, 12:39:10 pm »
I don't really use either of these aircraft much any more, so I might as well pass them on to someone else who will.

MSH Protos 500 ($400)
 - Original kit, upgraded with the MSH flybarless head
 - Mikado Vbar flybarless system, with direct connected Spektrum remote receiver
 - Kontronik Kora motor (for 6S 2500mah batteries)
 - Castle Creations ICE 50 ESC
 - Futaba S9650 digital cyclic servos
 - Futaba S9257 digital tail servo
 - SAB blades
 - bunch of extra parts, including blades and canopies

The Protos flies well and everything works perfectly.  I made sure to keep it light, which is what sets this apart from most other 500 size helis.  It is a real floater.

Multiplex Gemini ($110)
 - HXT900 servos all around
 - Turnigy 1100kV motor with APC 11x5.5 prop
 - Eflite 25 amp ESC
This plane flies great and has never had an unexpected meeting with the ground.  The motor and prop combination make it a pretty powerful and fast sport plane, but the light weight means low speed handling is very easy.

General Discussion / Re: FYI - DX5e as a wireless trainer buddy box
« Last post by sbrentson on April 17, 2015, 06:37:36 pm »
The spektrum wireless buddy box allows any DSMX and DSM2 complaint transmitter to slave to to new DX6, DX7 or DX9 wireless trainers. The "student" radio just thinks that the "instructor" radio is the plane.

One of the best features I've discovered with the wireless trainer is that you have the option to set automatic instructor override. That is, instead of having to hold/release a trainer button, you can set it up so that as soon as the instructor moves a control, that radio takes control.

It's a really simple but innovative idea.

Walter, as a reminder, make sure you get the sanction for both Saturday and Sunday even if you are only planing a one day event with a rain date.  I am thrilled you folks are putting on an exclusive Heli event.  Thanks.  Fred

General Discussion / 2015 Heli Fun Fly at our field
« Last post by Walter Johnson on December 19, 2014, 05:26:04 pm »
We will be having an RC helicopter fun fly event this July 18 with a rain date of July 19. I believe the last time we had one I was still flying my Ergo 60 heli. I will be the CD for the event and welcome all of our heli flyers to join in on the planning for this event. We will be having a get together to talk over ideas for the fly in after the holidays.BCNU Walter "Yogi" Johnson

Sale Items / Super Tiger 2000
« Last post by fmeyerrc on October 05, 2014, 05:35:05 am »
Used Super Tiger 2000 in great shape.  This engine has excellent compression and has been taken very good care of.  It is a candidate for conversion to gas using CH Ignitions conversion kits.  $100.00 OBO & a conversion kit costs about $70,00 so for less then  $200.00 you wold have a powerful 30cc engine that would work great in a 1/4 scale clipped wing Taylorcraft or Super Cub.

General Discussion / Re: Helicopter Flyers and Heli Field
« Last post by fmeyerrc on August 19, 2014, 02:04:18 pm »
Walter:  The comments I made in the news letter were not and are not intended to describe any bad behavior, in fact what I was trying to suggest is for the heli guys to get more involved with the overall club, its planning, its events, its maintenance, officer positions and whatever else come to mine.  Frankly, what sparked my comments was at the last sanctioned memorial event, a couple of heli guys went to the heli field and did not check in.  As you know  this is not acceptable to the AMA or me as the CD of this event.  I had to go back to the heli field to correct this so my inspiration was to make some comments with the hope that all members flying helis or fixed wing would take your example and become more involved with the workings of the club & its support.  I would also like to see more heli guys in the club and continue to improve the heli field.  This can best happen with more involvement by the heli guys throughout the club.

Regarding the comment in the minutes, our field Marshall was informed by complaints from our landlord, about the ruts and widening of the path to the heli field.  We all are well aware of the cause of the ruts that caused the Landlord to take notice and our Field Marshall quickly fixed the problem & removed the issue, & incidentally, it would have been great of the heli guys instigated fixing the road problem.

General Discussion / FYI - DX5e as a wireless trainer buddy box
« Last post by bobmct on August 17, 2014, 09:15:43 pm »
As have many, I purchased Spektrum's new black DX6 which seems to use most of the same OS and programming as the new DX9.   The new DX6 supports wireless training mode with other Spektrum transmitters.    I was surprised today when I tried to connect my DX5e wirelessly to my DX6 for training.   I put the DX6 into trainer bind mode and then tried to bind the DX5e to it and believe it or not it worked!   So now the DX5e works as a student training box with my DX6 WITHOUT A WIRE.   Hooray for technology.
I thought this might help others with a wireless-capable transmitter and wishes to establish a wireless student box.   :)
