Next Club Meeting - Weds. April, 21st. @ 8:00 P.M.

Minutes of the March 17, 2004 Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 8:10PM with 16 members in attendance.  The minutes of the Feb 18th meeting were accepted as read.

The treasurer reported he had would present the report at the next meeting.  No income to report since Feb 18th.

Old Business:

  • New Sign - Tom Vernon met with Salem City Hall and found out we had to get a permit to erect a sign near a state or county road.  The cost of the permit is $20.00.  He further learned we need to understand the right of way issues so he will visit the State DOT in Salem to get the specs.  He did determine the maximum sign allowed is 12 sq. ft.  Tom suggested we locate the sign about 50 feet off Route 82 on the right side of the driveway with a single sided sign facing Route 82.  Stay tuned for additional inputs in April.

  • Secretary - We are delighted to report that John Banks IV has volunteered to be our 2004 secretary.  He will meet with Diane & Lou Carpio this month to get up to date and take over the records. A MAJOR THANKS GOES OUT TO JOHN FOR FILLING THIS IMPORTANT POSITION.

  • Potential Flying Sites - Ed Wawrzynowski did not have a report on the Niantic Sportsman Club potential.  Fred Meyer is scheduled to meet with Groton Parks & Recreation Dept. to look over the progress a the Wells Rd. land fill.

  • West End of the Salem field guidelines - We still need to develop guidelines for all members to adhere to and to employ at our various events.

  • Web Site - A motion was made and passed to take Charlie Lewis' offer to develop the RC Propbusters web site on his web site.  Rich Ippolito will implement and advise access.  Fred Meyer to contact Rich LaSaracina to put a link on the Geocites site to steer inquirers to our new site after it is established.

  • 2004 Events - It was decided the landing fees for our three sanctioned events will be $10.00 for 1 or 2 days at he Berringer and Henry Struck fly-ins, and $10.00 for one day or $15.00 for two days for the Heli fly-in.

New Business:

  • Field Maintenance Day - April 24th is field maintenance and clean up day.  Bring your shovels, rakes, green bags, weed eaters, etc.  Jack Holmgren will advise what else will be needed at the April 21st meeting.

  • Fertilization - Ron Czikowsky will discuss recommendations at the next meeting after meeting with out fertilizer service.  Last year our filed looked like a golf green and we expect to improve it this year.

  • Cassy Boudreau - Cassy is going on a mission trip to San Quintin, Baja Mexico this summer to help out at Clinica La Esperanza.  She needs to raise money for her team by early June.  If anyone is interested in making a donation to Cassy please send a check payable to "PVCPP" and send it to Cassy Boudreau, 18 Clifton St., Waterford, CT 06385.

New Members:

Brian Shea was voted into our club by a unanimous vote.  Brian has a 40 size SIG Cadet that he has had since highschool.  Once it is ready, Lou Carpio seems to be the guy responsible to get Brian to SOLO. WELCOME BRIAN!

No Plane of the Month

Meeting adjourned at 9:03PM.  Respectfully Submitted: Fred Meyer
