Old Business:
IMAA Chapter 392 Event -.
Joan Liska, President, was notified by Fred Meyer and Lou Carpio regarding our
club’s vote to not hold this event in 2004. Joan was very gracious and
understanding and hoped we would be able to offer our field in coming years.
New sign- Tom
Vernon will be going to city hall for further clarification on signage prior
to the next meeting. Once the allowable signage is understood Tom and Fred
Meyer will fabricate the sign and place it on the West end of the entry.
Potential Flying Sites - Ed
Wawrzynowski was not present at the meeting and we did not get a report
regarding the possibility of leasing some land from the Niantic Sportsman Club
in East Lyme. Fred Meyer will meet with Groton Parks & Recreation in April
to look at the Wells Rd. landfill as a possible flying site.
Web Site - Rich Ippolito
acquired our URL, RCPropbusters.com, and is currently looking for a host.
Charles Lewis is also asking his host if it is possible to have our website on
his site directly, without having to go through ChurcksRC.com/RCPropbusters.
The domain name cost $10.00/year.
· 2004 Events- The
2004 events were voted and approved as follows: Some
dates are corrected
§ June 12-13 - Bob
Berringer. Lou Carpio will head up the event with Dick Wilkins as CD
§ July 24-25 - Henry
Struck Electric. Jorge Cintron will be the CD and head up this event.
§ August 15 - Neighborhood
Fun Fly. Fred Meyer will head up the event and contact scout troops. Ray
Knieriem has also agreed to co-manage this event.
§ August 28 - Club
Fun Fly. John Banks IV will head up this event.
§ September 18-19 - Heli
Fly In (tentative date) Charlie Lewis to confirm.
Noise Levels - Per Lou Carpio’s
reminder last month, we all must monitor ourselves and others to assure we do
not fly too far to the West, and we must use appropriate mufflers and
propellers to minimize noise.
New Business:
· Additional Potential
Flying Sites - Ray Knieriem will look into the Canterbury landfill and
the old Norwich landfill near I-395 & Rt 82 on West Town Street.
We need to develop criteria defining guidelines for the West
end of the Salem field - To be continued.
Motions passed at the meeting
Charles Lewis will receive free membership in recognition of
his hosting our newsletter on his web site.
We will offer to reimburse IMAA Chapter 392 for the sanction
fees they have already paid for this year’s event.
New Secretary Needed -
Because of extenuating circumstances, Brian Jolicoeur is not able to continue as
our 2004 secretary. We wish him good luck with his personnel issues. We
need a volunteer to take over this takeover this very important job. Lou
Carpio & Fred Meyer will handle this in until a permanent secretary is
found.
Plane of the Month- Dick
Wilkins brought in a GWS ARF Tiger Moth. Reports 20 min+ flights with a 650mah
LiPo 7.4V battery. Many flights already in the hopper and he says it flies
great. Takes it off from the top of his car, but doesn’t manage to land there
yet. Keep trying Dick.
No new members this month
Meeting adjourned at 8:59. Respectfully Submitted: Fred Meyer.
