March 2005 Minutes

The March 15th, 2005 meeting of the RC Propbusters was called to order at 6:58pm with 14 members present.

The February meeting’s minutes were accepted as read.

The Treasurer’s report given by Ron C. was accepted as read.

Old Business:

  Fly-Ins:

o           Henry Struck :  Jorge reported that he has submitted the sanction to the AMA and is waiting for their response.

o           Neighborhood Fun Fly: No further reports at this time.

o           Club Fun Fly ( Mark Rice Memorial Fun Fly): The event is still in its early planning stages.  Members are encouraged to submit ideas on the events they would like to see (limbo, balloon bust, taxi race, etc) and compete in.  Participation will be the key to success for this event!

o           Heli-Fun Fly: No Updates.

Sign: Bernie reported that Tom Vernon has the sign and it will be installed when the weather breaks.

Field Cleanup Day: All members are encouraged to show up and support the field cleanup day on the second Saturday in April .  Please bring rakes/shovels etc to aid in the effort.

New Business:

Trees:  Bernie brought up the idea that the club might be interested in talking to Stu about planting some trees along the west end of the farm land to aid in noise reduction efforts with our new neighbors.  Bernie will gather some information regarding purchasing saplings and will talk to Stu about his feelings about the implementation.

Lock: The combination on the gate has been changed.  John reported that he forgot to write the combination on several membership cards, please contact any officer if you are in need of the combination for the field either via phone or email.

Joe Nall : The annual Joe Nall fly-in will be happening in South Carolina again this year in May.  This is a huge event with hundreds of registered pilots, all with giant scale airplanes.  There are RC flying demos, full-scale demos, and a great atmosphere with a ton of great people! Bernie Liskov and John Banks are headed down this year, and if anyone else is interested in making the trip themselves, or would like more information, please feel free to contact either of them or go to www.JoeNall.com

Control Line: Dana Lord asked if there was any U-Control flying at the field last year, although there was none, the club does allow for U-Control in the event that there is no RC flying going on at the same time, as the same space must be utilized.  U-Control must yield to RC pilots, but is encouraged at the Salem location.

New Members: None

Next Meeting:  The next meeting will be June 21st. Tuesday, at the New Salem Library.

A Motion was made to adjourn the meeting at 7:40pm

Respectfully Submitted,

John C. Banks IV

Secretary
